Course information

Welcome to the RCPCH Paediatric and Child Health Essentials: Bacterial Meningitis and Meningococcal Septicaemia eLearning module. This module has been designed to primarily revise essential knowledge and understanding of the disease and gives learners the opportunity to access key components of the How to Manage course. The core target audience is paediatric and GP trainees. The course will also be of interest to a wide range of child health professionals, including nurses and health visitors. It is expected that this course will take up to 90 minutes to complete.

Learning objectives:

  • To revise the standards and guidelines relating to bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia
  • To appreciate the wider impacts of the disease on children, young people and their families
  • To enforce the health professional’s understanding of advice for parents and carers in relation to signs and symptoms of the disease
