This one-day online course explores how to recognise and effectively manage life-threatening sepsis.
This essential course will take you through the practical aspects of the recognition and management of sepsis, including the use of fluids, antibiotics and inotropes. Using real life examples we will discuss cases of sepsis in children with complex health conditions and immune-compromise. Your learning will be embedded by taking part in simulated sepsis scenarios.
It will provide you with the confidence and practical skills to manage sepsis and prescribe in acute scenarios.

Emma Lim is a Consultant in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne and Paediatric Sepsis Lead for the trust. She has worked regionally and nationally with the Academic Health Science Network, and the Sepsis Trust to increase awareness and develop sepsis pathways. She is an investigator in the EU PERFORM and DIAMONDS Horizon 2020 study to improve management of febrile patients and is the course lead for the RCPCH How to Manage: Paediatric Sepsis series.
